Inquiry about pending patch

Hello,

I submitted a patch back in July that was never accepted or rejected.

This bug causes issues with blank lines in files that are used with Yocto's
populate-volatile.sh script and I'd like to get it fixed upstream as it's
currently
patched downstream.

I greatly appreciate your time and help resolving this issue.
