depmod results in empty modules.dep for gz compressed modules

Hi.

Having compiled the kernel (6.1.19) with

        Module compression mode (GZIP)  --->
        [*]   Support in-kernel module decompression

Having compiled busybox with
      Archival Utilities  --->
         [*] Make tar, rpm, modprobe etc understand .xz data
         [*] Make tar, rpm, modprobe etc understand .gz data

Building with
      make clean all


After building the modules.dep file remains empty

The task works well with
        Module compression mode (XZ)  --->
or
        Module compression mode (NONE)  --->


What do i miss?
