Just one thing, I forgot: the licence.
If you want to use this code for taking nanoseconds time, you have to
specify the licence thus the copyright notice:

(C) 2020, Roberto A. Foglietta

The licence is BSD. It could be incorporated info GPL source code but do
not inherit the licence. In this way, anyone can use it also for
proprietary software.
