Yes, I use them.

With self built BusyBox v1.27.2 (I use this far longer, probably back to 
1.22.0 or so) I set this in kconfig:

BUSYBOX_USE_BB_CRYPT_SHA

You may want to check the settings in busybox menuconfig below "Login/Password 
Management Utilities".
