"Was not a community building type of person" is perhaps a kind way
of putting it.
IIRC the standard reactions to anything DJB have historically been pretty
polar--either loving or hating that he was trying to simultaneously
reinvent the whole unix filesystem layout, reinvent build-systems,
make a point about copyright law by not actually granting licenses,
make a point about the way people write programs..., etc.
But, looking at the calendar today..., it looks like it's been almost
a decade since he at least relented on the "license-free software" thing
and dedicated everything to the public domain; so maybe enough time
has passed for the controversy surrounding all of his stuff to have
faded, and maybe someone can finally make his stuff popular?
