problems with modprobe on kernel 2.4

Oh wait, you are on 2.4 kernel. I think the compressed modules work
only on 2.6 atm. This due to the way how the 2.4 module loader works.
I'd rather not the way, in the above patch. Someone should fix the
2.4 module loader properly.
