Steve, I did as you said and found out through 
Wireshark that eth1 was the active interface =)))

DHCP got a lease immediately when I 
specified the correct interface.

Now it all works and I've got my PC and the 
board pinging each other. It's all so beautiful.

THANK YOU very much for your help. I've learned more 
about Linux and networking in the last couple of days 
than I have in the last ten years.
