Hello,

I was wondering what is the release status of the udhcp code? I’ve seen a
few mailing list posts with udhcp patches, but are these patches in the
released version of Busy Box? I looked at the udhcp changelog
(busybox-1.1.2/networking/udhcp/ChangeLog), and v0.9.9 was marked as
“pending”.

I’m pretty new to the whole open source code exchanging, so please bare
with me. The product I work on needed some additions to udhcp for our
environment. I’d like to have the official released version of Busy Box
use these same features, so we don’t have to manage differences if we
upgrade busy box versions. Here is what was added in our version:
 1. Add a discover count to the command line, so udhcp will sent more
then just 3 discovers messages.

 2. Allow “0” as an argument for discover count, which means send
discovers until a dhcp server responds.

 3. Add a discover period to the command line, so the amount of time
between discovers can be configured.

I saw a patch for #1, but are there patches for the other features? If
not, can these features be added to the Busy Box udchp code? I would be
willing to submit our changes; however, I would need a link to a “how-to”
on posting a [PATCH].

Thanks for the help,
-Nate
