Summary:                    ANSI compilant fn decls
Description: 
On machines with only ANSI compliant compilers, these pop up for me.

Compile tested, builtin test appear to be not sufficient -- i, for one,
would point to qmtest but YMMV.

TIA for reviewing and applying those.
