Im using current CVS.

$ ./busybox echo "abc = 123" | ./busybox cut -f2 -d "="
 123

Maybe it was your typo ?

./busybox echo "abc = 123" | ./busybox cut -f2 -b "="
cut: only one type of list may be specified

Only one of b, c, f options may be used.
