Hello,
Reading through the achives I thought the:
"-sh: can't access tty; job control turned off"
on /dev/tty1 problem may have been resolved but it seems not, or maybe I'm
doing something wrong. I used to run the 0.60 branch of BB with 2.4x kernel
with no problems. Now I'm using 2.6.1-mm2 and have tried unsuccessfully with
1.0-pre3, pre4 and pre5. Here is my inittab and I'm not using devfs:
::sysinit:/etc/rc.d/ssm
::respawn:/sbin/svscanboot
tty1::respawn:/sbin/getty 57600 tty1
::ctrlaltdel:/sbin/reboot
::shutdown:/bin/umount -a -r
::shutdown:/sbin/swapoff -a
I use getty because I want to invoke a login prompt on the console. I have
also tried changing the getty line to:
tty1::respawn:/sbin/getty 57600 /dev/tty1
with no success. The problem only occurs on the console and works fine via
any vty. Permissions on dev files are:
crw-rw-rw- 1 root root 5, 0 Aug 24 2000 /dev/tty
crw------- 1 root 5 4, 0 Aug 24 2000 /dev/tty0
crw------- 1 root root 4, 1 Jan 13 14:48 /dev/tty1
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Andrew.
