Hi list,
I am working on a linux router with squid proxy.
I use the busybox (1.00-pre5) base system and squid (2.5stable4), both
static build.
When squid starts I get the message:
# FATAL: getpwnam failed to find userid for effective user 'squid'
# Squid Cache (Version 2.5.STABLE4): Terminated abnormally.
# CPU Usage: 0.040 seconds = 0.040 user + 0.000 sys
# Maximum Resident Size: 0 KB
# Page faults with physical i/o: 295
# Aborted
Maybe a config file is broken or a system command is left, but I do not
think so.
My system looks like this:
# /bin
# . busybox dmesg hostname iplink kill more ping sh su
uname
# .. cat echo hush iproute lash mount pwd sleep
sync watch
# ash date false ip iptunnel ls msh rm stty
true
# /etc/group
# root:x:0:
# squid:x:65534:
# /etc/passwd
# root:x:0:0:root::
# squid:x:31:65534:squid:/usr/share/squid:/bin/false
# /sbin
# . .. init logread route syslogd watchdog
# /usr/sbin
# . [ clear free hostid killall mesg nslookup reset tty
# .. arping env head id logger mkfifo openvt test
uptime
# /usr/sbin
# . .. httpd iptables squid
# /etc/squid.conf
# [...
# cache_effective_user squid
# cache_effective_group squid
# .]
I do not know much about linux user handling, so hopefully someone can
help me.
Thanks.
