Do you have space to install strace and/or ltrace?  I assume you
are using busybox telnetd.  Could you try doing things like
reverting specific files such as networking/telnetd.c to the
earlier versions present in -pre3 where things work for you?  Or
in some other way (such as adding printf()s) try to determine
where it is crashing?

Nobody else seems to be having this problem, so I'm afraid the
bulk of the initial debugging effort will be on your sholders.
