Hello. I've a problem that probably you can resolve.
I want to create my own mini-distribution linux that must run on a
compact flash (connect as hdc1), on a disk on chip and on a
disk on module in a PC with VIA C3 processor. I compiled the
kernel, create the root file system coping files (with cp) and
library (with objcopy) from my Red Had 9 to the target system
and install grub with a grub floppy disk. When I start my PC,
the kernel starts, mount the root fs and then stop. At this
point, the kernel must starts init but init won't start and
there are no warning/error messages.
I use busybox 0.60.5 and kernel 2.4.20. Must I patch the kernel
in some way? Why my system hangs at the init boot time (if I
delete /sbin/init the beaviour of the boot don't change, kernel
don't say me "unable to find init" or similar)? Kernel see all
my hardware in the right manner.
Thank you.
Bye, Nicola
