[BusyBox] problems compiling busybox

Hello,

I have downloaded the source files for busybox from the CVS link. When I do make busybox I get the following error:
: No such file or directory Makefile:33: Extraneous text after `ifeq' directive'.  Stop. No rule to make target `Rules.mak

The line its complaing on is: ifeq ($(strip $(HAVE_DOT_CONFIG)),y). Would you happen to know the reason for this.
