If i got all the ifdefs right it doesn't add extra bytes, the xconnect 
patch could even reduce the code size. I haven't really checked this, a 
version of a simple socket and connect would only add a call, and with 2 
callers will reduce the size...
The other code shouldn't add anything to the binary.
