My fault, can be fixed (for the rpi_defconfig case) by:

BR2_TARGET_BAREBOX_IMAGE_FILE="images/barebox-raspberry-pi-1.img images/barebox-raspberry-pi-2.img images/barebox-raspberry-pi-3.img"
