To me, FIT images can contain much more than a kernel, and they are
actually not really related to the kernel in any way. Therefore, why is
this implemented as part of the linux/ package?
I believe the FIT stuff would probably "fit" (!) better as a new image
type, probably combining various other images generated by Buildroot
(kernel image, DTB, initramfs, etc.).
