maintaining a list of "random variant has XXX features" is duplicating what 
gcc can (should) already be telling us

the number of variants that declare "i have no mmu" is pretty low.  i dont 
think it's a big deal to make people deselect the "do you want to utilize the 
mmu" option.  it's fairly hard to screw this up.

expecting people to know about ABI/EABI or arm/thumb mode is reasonable imo.  
adding knobs for significant features is one thing, but maintaining a constant 
binding of variant<->feature set is a never ending pain.

doesnt gcc already expose BX support via defines in the toolchain ?  then we 
could get rid of the USE_BX build option completely.
