Disassembly of higher optimizations are tricky since AVR32 objdump is
not able to understand how the optimized code relates to the source
code. Known bug, fix in progress...

On the good side I can not really identify any bugs with
uClibc 0.9.30-rc3, and I think your bug is related to your toolchain. I
am able to run grep on my AVR32 board without issues, although, I am
using Busybox 1.12.1.

Are you using precompiled binaries for your toolchain from Atmel? These
have some serious bugs :( Update will be released very soon, I nag
about this as often as I can, will do it once more right now.

Your observation is most likely fixed by one of the incremental patches
on http://avr32linux.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/GccPatches

Could you (Jeremy) please state which compiler and additional patches
you are using?
