uclibc pthreads debugging troubles with recent tools

So the problem seems to be with gcc 4.1.x. The new buildroot, uclibc,
bintools along with gcc 3.4.6 seem to be producing pthread apps that
play nice with gdb 6.4 (testing 6.5 shortly). Has anyone had any luck
getting gcc 4.1.1 to build debug-able pthread apps with uClibc
(specifically on mipsel). I'd much rather stick with gcc 4.1.1, but
lack of pthread debug support is a serious problem.
