[uClibc] Support for i086/i186/i286 processors

Hi,
How thight is uClibc tied in x86 world to i386 (>) assembler subset? Is it
possible to extend it to i286 support? Does i386 (>) depency come from
gcc?

ps. I know there is 8086 development environment at
http://www.cix.co.uk/~mayday/ (and elks) but I like to use uClibc. It
would be neat to have it in my very old 286 laptop
