By the way, exactly the same thing is implemented long ago in Linux 2.6. It's 
called "early userspace". Just place gzipped CPIO archive in as 
"initramfs_data.cpio.gz" in "usr" subdirectory of kernel source, and than 
rebuild the kernel.
