[uClibc] ld/gcc problem with latest buildroot with i586 target

Here's the gist of it:

gcc (gcc-3.3.4) wants to send option --as-needed to ld (binutils-2.14.90.0.6) 
and ld doesn't understand the switch. 

The end result is nothing can be linked once it is compiled.

I tried using binutils-2.15.90.03 but the patches fail.

Attached is my Makefile if it helps.
