[uClibc]Booting into UML with a uClic root file system?

I have User Mode Linux v2.4.19-5um installed on my system, and I want to boot
into the preconfigured root_fs-i386 downloaded from uclibc.org. When I invoke
UML with the following command, the system hangs right the urandom device
is initialized. (I removed the pcmcia service):

[srodgers at steverod ts5300new]$ linux ubd0=root_fs-i386

I initially thought that the console wasn't set up correctly, but after addinf
/dev/console I still cannot get past the hang condition. There is a problem
logged with ubda in the boot log, could this be the issue? Has anyone else
experienced this problem and if so how did you solve it?

Steve.
