[uClibc]Error with arm, buildroot, and root_fs - unresolved symbol __umodsi3

The precompiled root_fs-arm that Erik provided works ok.
When I try to build my own root_fs the buildroot makefile
appears to complete ok, but when I try to boot my arm 
eval board (cogent csb226) I get a 

init: can't resolve symbol '__umodsi3Kernel panic: Attempted to kill init! 

error. I am using the latest buildroot makefile, uClibc 0.9.19, gcc 3.2.2,
my own kernel (2.4.19-rmk4 based, system-linux). 

I am not quite sure how to pursue this. Thanks for any help.
