[uClibc]irDA in a Hitachi H8S/2633

Hi, 

im trying to implement the IrDA-protocol in a microprocessor (Hitachi
H8S/2633). 

Don't really know where to start besides trying to reconstruct the source
code in Linux irda. 

Anyone done anything similar before that can give me some guidance? Where
should I start? What should I do with the system calls?
