Ouch.  Any reason you need to use a 1.5 year old kernel?  I
_know_ that busybox + uClibc 0.9.15 + 2.4.19-rmk4 works fine.

To be honest, I don't have a lot of experience with kernel 2.4.6
with these versions of binutils and gcc...  I generally use much
newer toolchains, and I've had good experience with gcc-3.2 and
binutils-2.12.1 on arm.
