Hah, I got burned by that too.  Good old "cvs up -P -d" doesn't
delete retired directories.  'libc/sysdeps/linux/mipsel' is
ancient history.

You might want to do a totally fresh checkout... 

Or what I sometimes do is create a new uClibc directory and just
copy over the top-level CVS/ into it, and then do an update.  :-/
