CodePoet Consulting is pleased to announce the release of uClibc
0.9.9. This release brings with it a substantial increase in the
number of applications which now compile and run. The number of
supported architectures has also increased, and now includes arm,
h8300, i386, m68k, mips, powerpc, sh, sparc, and v850.

uClibc is a C library designed for embedded Linux and uClinux
systems. It is much smaller then the GNU C Library (glibc), but
nearly all applications supported by glibc work just fine with
uClibc. Porting applications from glibc to uClibc typically
requires nothing more then recompiling the source code. uClibc
is licenced under the LGPL, allowing it to be used in both open
and closed source applications. If you are building an embedded
Linux system and you find that glibc is using too much space, you
should consider using uClibc. Future releases will include
additional features such as wide-character support and Posix
threading.
