Yes, confirmed and corrected.  It was binutils:

	http://bugs.debian.org/643858

Linking works fine now.

unstable:
	gcc-4.6.real (Debian 4.6.1-13) 4.6.1
	GNU ld (GNU Binutils for Debian) 2.21.90.20111004
	eglibc 2.13-21
