gcc-4.3, building busybox and multiple references to toupper/tolower?

1.7.2.  i wish i had the exact error msgs with me; i know that others
back at the office can reproduce that issue on their systems as well
with the gcc-4.3 coldfire toolchain and that version of busybox.
