One slight clarification...

They'll actually be brought in front of a court for violating copyright.
That's the same law, whichever original work you choose to copy without
the consent of the copyright holder, whether it's open-sourced, even
whether or not it's software.

It's nothing to do with the GPL, saving that the GPL is the only licence
under which permission to copy will be granted...
