Strange ping behaviour

Hi,

after half some minutes of total frustration i've found out that
ping -I INTERFACE does not get the ip-address from the interface and
uses it to send the probes, but instead just binds the socket to the
interface and then the probes will be send with the "normal" source
address. While it is the same behaviour as the iputils ping it's still a
bit strange, don't you think?

Also the ping-manpage states:
-I interface address
Set source address to specified interface address. Argument
may be numeric IP address or name of device. When pinging
IPv6 link-local address this option is required.

Nico
