I was gonna say...

The thing is, all the patches I've done to bloat-o-meter so far have been fed 
back into the kernel tree.  They ain't taking this one, and thus I consider 
it a bad idea.

Adding the word "total" to the top line, if there's room for it, might work.  
And moving the total to the bottom might also be a good thing.
