yes, i'm using a fully x86 gentoo based on uclibc-0.9.28.
As said before init() works without any busybox patches and it looks like
they've implemented/copied it (not just an alias to vfork).
See uClibc-0.9.28/libpthread/linuxthreads/ptfork.c .
I've attached a example in c which works for me (found on the uclibc
maillist).
