Why can't I do this: uuencode -m /mnt/kd/xyz/myfile.csv > stuff ?

Hello

If I do
uuencode -m /mnt/kd/xyz/myfile.csv

Then the file is encoded and the contents sent to the screen - stout I 
suppose.  So how do I capture the screen output and save to a file?
