should i make and just replace the old busybox file with the new one as all the old symlinks would be pointing to it anyway.

the stuff should work out of the box.
you use make menuconfig to have a curses driven interface to 
enable/disable anything you need.

of cause no ganrantee that anything YOU do will ever work at least i had 
no problems.
