uclibc: weak symbols -> SEGV

Hi Manuel,
I compiled cross-toolchain in order to be able to build
busybox against uclibc on my amd64 desktop.
versions: binutils-2.16.91.0.7, gcc-4.1.1
target: i486-linux-uclibc
gcc configure options:
--disable-__cxa_atexit
--enable-target-optspace
--with-gnu-ld
--disable-shared
--disable-threads
--disable-multilib
--without-headers
I seemingly successfully built static uclibc
(latest snapshot) and can compile & link against uclibc
trivial program:
int main() { write(1, "TEST\n", 5); }
However, it SEGVs even before main().
A little bug hunting session shows that it dies exactly
here in __uClibc_init:
if (likely(_locale_init!=NULL))
_locale_init();
...
if (likely(_stdio_init != NULL))
_stdio_init();
That is, if locale is enabled, it dies in first if()
(btw: _locale_init's body isn't reached, dies before...),
else it dies in second if(), which is expected -
first if() is #ifdef'ed out then.
I noticed that both of these funcs are declared weak_function.
I disabled weak_function as follows:
