As a rather late follow up...

busybox tr doesnt support predefined classes such as [:blank:],
[:digit:], acording to Sus3 it should support them, ive added a note in
the TODO.

I nthe meantime you could do an equivalent with
echo "$interplist" | tr '[ \t\r]' \\n
