[BusyBox] "Fancy shell prompts" not working in rc2

Yes, I have seen the same thing.  For me it broke between RC1 and RC2.  I am
running on a Motorola 8245 embedded platform.

My prompt formerly looked like:

/bin #

It now simply displays as:

$


My /etc/profile has the following:

if [ -n "$BASH" ]; then
        export PS1="[\u@\h \W]$ "
fi
