[BusyBox] tty0 problem

I am having a problem with tty0 that I can't seem to figure out.
Whenever I try to access tty0, I get the following error:
/dev/tty0: No such device

But when i do an ls, it says it's there:
 ls -al /dev/tty0
crw-rw-rw-    1 root     root       4,   0 Nov 29 17:06
/dev/tty0

I am running as root so permissions is not the problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
