  based on postings once upon a time from glenn mcgrath, i recall that
to use minit properly, i had to do a couple of things:

1) use "init=/sbin/minit" on the boot line, and
2) patch our 2.4.22-pre8 kernel with the changes i can see in the
   2.4.23 kernel source tree, in init/main.c, to allow for an
   alternate init program name to be passed.

once that's done, i just have to set up the proper /etc/minit
hierarchy.  am i missing anything critical?
