[BusyBox] buildroot gcc_target

Has anybody gotten gcc_target to work?  I seem to be having some
trouble.  It seems to want to build parts of gcc using the cross
tools, when it shouldn't.  It dies when trying to execute
gencheck (which has been compiled for arm) in the build process.
Any clues?  I've been trying to get it to work, but it's been
driving me nuts.  ANY help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks
