[BusyBox] Problem is latest busybox cvs[tar]

You are correct with the bug in the help system, it doesnt report that
the -z option is available, i will look into it.

The -z option does work for me though, a couple of tips.

Im not sure eactly why, but sometimes you have to run make clean after
changing the config or it will rebuild using the old config.
I suspect this may be your problem.

Some tar archives e.g. GNU sed are created using the -o (obsolete and
decrepit) tar format, this is done in an attempt to increase
compatability, but in reality just perpetuates the obsolete standard.

If you encounter one of these tar files and didnt configure busybox with
[*]     Enable support for old tar header format
then it will abort with an Invalid magic error.
