[BusyBox] Problems with init.

I'm having problems getting init to load properly. My setup is a server
using tftp and nfs to serve clients computers. The kernel loads alright but
when the busybox version of init (v0.60.3) is started I get errors for

device /dev/vc/2   does not exist
device /dev/vc/3   does not exist
device /dev/vc/4   does not exist

this is if the is not inittab present. If there is an inittab file present I
get even more errors. Any idea of what this could be?
