You say "ask" - I don't know if any will actually prompt the user, but
all of these items can be put onto the command line...

For the Linux Router Project, there are three different scripts
available that will do this.  One comes with LRP, one is by Mike
Sensney, and one is by Charles Steinkuehler - all use ash and mnc (a
mini-netcat).

There is also ssmtp which will do this, and this is what I use in my
LRP variant.
