Why?  That seems unwise.  Case in point, my current 2.4.4 kernel's modules, as
installed by 'make modules_install' has a 'build' symlink pointing to the
kernel source.  So now before it ever gets around to looking under
/lib/modules/2.4.4/kernel it will have wandered through the entire kernel
source tree...
