Sorry... I had touched something and didn't tell.
Today I found out I get the problem if I change

#define ASH_ALIAS
to
#undef ASH_ALIAS
in ash.c

I see I have the very same problem on the glibc system (I didn't remeber
changing that #define on the libc5), so this is seems not a libc/glibc issue.
