[BusyBox] tr does not squeeze (0.47)

Just found out that tr does not squeeze  characters as in

	alpha1:/root # ifconfig eth0 |grep HWaddr| tr -s " "
	eth0      Link encap:Ethernet  HWaddr 08:00:2B:86:75:9C
